Enrolment is now open for the Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security and for the MSc in Information Technology, specialising in Cyber Security. The Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security is offered by SLIIT and its long-standing academic partner Curtin University, Australia. The MSc in IT Specialising in Cyber Security is offered by SLIIT. Cyber security has been identified as a key global issue. The widespread use and dependence on online services brings about new challenges of ensuring security in the digital economy. Increasing vulnerability witnessed by the intensity of malicious cyber activities taking place has led to the need for specialists in the field of cyber security. Focusing predominantly on the technical and problem-solving skills linked with security implementation, the program will also have concepts and expertise on project management and effective communications. With a range of interesting classes, the entire course is structured to cover the common body of knowledge developed by the International Informations Systems Security Certifications Consortium (ISC)2, ISACA, ACM, IEEE and ACS. The course provides a detailed coverage of the key concepts and challenges in data and resource protection and computer software security.  The course focuses on both the high level (e.g. Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC), cryptography theory and data access policy development) and low level (e.g. computer forensics, network intrusion detection and incident handling) aspects of information security. As a part of the course, all students are required to individually engage in a case study project, which provides real world relevance. Students however must possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related discipline or any other degree that is accepted by SLIIT to be eligible for this programs. “This renowned program will include hands on workshops with international experts in Digital Forensics. The experience gathered by students, will gear them with the tools, knowledge and skills to pro actively protect information assets from the increasing cyber security threats. Upon completion, graduates will be able to find employment in areas such as web-based services, banking, information retrieval and government organisations involved in national security such as the Ministry of Defence,” notes Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT.
