SLINTEC and ABM Exide have signed an agreement to conduct research on improving their product line. The engagement marks a long term partnership with ABM Exide to research and develop new batteries with improved performance.  In order to build local capacity, ABM Exide has decided to partner with SLINTEC to do targeted nanotechnology-based research and materials development.

SLINTEC is a public-private partnership between the Government of Sri Lanka and major players in the private sector; namely MAS Holdings, Brandix, Dialog, Hayleys, Loadstar and most recently Lankem. SLINTEC is committed to supporting small-and-medium enterprises to improve and develop their products to meet the demands of the local and international markets using nanotechnology and advanced technology solutions.

ABM Exide or Associated Battery Manufacturers (Ceylon) was formed in 1960 and has been able to stay in the local market as the market leader in spite of the tremendous competition from the imported batteries. The company has grown steadily and modernised its manufacturing processes, while their constant innovations have helped the company to produce a consistently higher quality battery.
