Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the leading ICT solutions provider in Sri Lanka, was recognised as a winner at the World Class Global Performance Excellence Awards 2015 (GPEA). SLT was amongst the 14 different organisations from the Asia Pacific region that received the ‘World Class Award,’ which is the highest recognition given under the GPEA award. SLT was the only organisation to be awarded the World Class Award under the ‘Large Service’ category.

The awards were presented at the annual Asia Pacific Quality Organisation (APQO) International Conference on Quality held recently in Shanghai, China.   Prabath Kulathunge, GM/Quality Assurance of SLT was present at the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of SLT from Charles Aubrey, Chairman of APQO and the GPEA Executive Committee.

The World Class GPEA recognises exemplary companies of world class quality performance among the Asian and Pacific Rim countries. The GPEA has been modeled after the US Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Award or the European Foundation for Quality Management Award, which are benchmarks for quality, followed worldwide.

Prabath Kulathunge gave his comments regarding the award saying: “SLT is very proud and happy about this latest accolade won by our company, which emphasises and affirms our commitment to quality and performance excellence. Quality is a key area that we continue to focus on in an effort to stand apart from the rest and to ensure that our customers are guaranteed with value for money.”
