Introduction to support growing hard-user market in Sri Lanka goes beyond rugged   Softlogic Information Technologies, one of the premier ICT companies in Sri Lanka and a pioneering subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings, launched the new Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme notebook and the Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme convertible notebooks for customers who require powerful solutions that will survive tough environments. Dell recently introduced a family of ruggedized laptop solutions from the most durable military grade options to flexible business ready-solutions designed to resist spills and drops and to handle almost any situation. The new introduction is the perfect answer by Dell for mission critical tasks in challenging conditions. The Dell Latitude Rugged Extreme solutions are purpose-built to withstand hazards such as dust, moisture, drops, vibration, extreme temperatures and other punishing conditions faced by users in fields such as construction, military service, public safety, manufacturing, insurance and first response. All products have gone through a rigorous ‘test-to-fail’ methodology, not content with merely industry standards, but identifying potential issues which are crucial to its customers in very harsh environments. The convertible features a camera which is ideal for documentation, and with latest 4th Generation Intel Core processors and wireless technology, both machines enable outstanding performance and connectivity for the hard user. Both laptops also provide industry standard legacy connections, which are in built while the screen has full daylight visibility, an important aspect when using outdoors the majority of time. Speaking about the new introduction, Softlogic Information Technologies Ltd Director/CEO Roshan Rassool said: “With the introduction of the new rugged products range, Dell makes lives easier for our customers’ who push the limits in everything they do.” He further added, “We are thrilled to be among the first companies in the region to launch the award-winning range of ruggedized notebooks in Sri Lanka. Dell has a history of developing ruggedized notebooks since its introduction of the Dell Latitude Advance Terrain Grade System in 2007. But the new XFR is a different breed. The introduction of this new line would further support the small but growing rugged notebook market. With the Dell rugged and semi-rugged range, you get long-lasting field ready technology that is reliable, capable and manageable in the most extreme conditions.” According to Dell, the Latitude Rugged Extreme notebooks are independently tested to military standards (MIL-STD-810G) including drops up to six feet, as well as ingress protection, emissions and hazardous materials certifications by a third-party testing facility. Further, since no single field test accounts for every possible scenario, the Dell Rugged Extreme portfolio is tested above and beyond every existing standard to verify survivability in real world situations. The Dell Latitude 12 and 14 Rugged Extreme are built to endure worst-case conditions with the most robust materials available, including impact-resistant ultra-polymers and sturdy magnesium alloy. Data is protected from the elements with sealed doors and compression gaskets while enabling performance at high temperatures with fourth-generation QuadCool thermal management. There is also an NFC reader under the palm rest and a biometrics reader for secure computing.
