SolidWorks Design Validation Day 2013, the annual event on simulation organised by the ACECAM Ltd. kicked off on 4 July at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. ACECAM Ltd. (www.acecamtech.com) is the Value Added Reseller to Dassault Systems, SolidWorks Corporation and a leading software solutions provider in engineering designing, civil, architecture, drafting, construction and manufacturing industries for the last eight years. Dassault Systèmes, the 3Dexperience company is the world leader in 3D design software, 3D digital mock up and product lifecycle management solutions. Powered by the Dassault Systèmes 3Dexperience platform, SolidWorks 3D applications help millions of engineers and designers succeed through innovation. (www.3ds.com/solidworks). The event was enriched with the contribution from two technical experts from SolidWorks Amol Mane, Territory Technical Manager and Kapil Gaitonde, Manager, Simulation, Asia Pacific.  The event secured participation from most industry leaders such as MAS, Brandix, Flintech, Trelleborg Lanka, Samson Engineering, Loadstar, Jinasena, Eu-Retec, ELSTEEL, Elastomeric Technologies, CaviTool, Aero Sense, Ansell Lanka, Ceylon Tobacco, Ceylon Steel Corporation, AMW, Policrom, Lalan Group, CBL (Munchee), Dipped Products and Fonterra. Governmental bodies such as Ceylon German Technical Training Institute, Institute of Post Harvesting Technology and Department of Government Factory also took interest to participate in order to get introduced developing sustainable designs using SolidWorks. It also noteworthy that leading academia such as University of Moratuwa, Open University of Sri Lanka and SLIIT ensured their participation to identify how SolidWorks (education software) empowers educators and students of all levels in learning with access to curriculum and teaching tools. SolidWorks offers the best suite of tools for engineering design, documentation, simulation, and sustainable design in one easy-to-learn software package. All the Engineering Faculties of Government Universities use SolidWorks Education Version and standardise it in their curriculums. Easy-to-use, fast SolidWorks Simulation CAD-embedded analysis solutions enable designers and engineers to simulate and analyse design performance. Users can quickly and easily employ advanced simulation techniques to optimise product and cut down on costly prototypes, eliminate rework and delays and save both time and development costs. Ruwan Manchanayake, Director, ACECAM explaining the benefits of SolidWorks simulation mentioned: “The technology ensures the quality and performance of the designs before committing to production. Comprehensive analysis tools let you test models digitally for valuable insight early in the design process. You can easily determine methods to reduce weight and material costs, improve durability and manufacturability, optimise margins, and compare design alternatives to best meet specific customer requirements.” He thanked all who took interest to take part in this event and invite for the forthcoming SolidWorks Innovation Day which will be held at the end of the year.
