The South Asian Mobile Conference 2012 is an important event in making the benefits ICT accrue to all, says ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) Chairman Professor P.W. Epasinghe.
Professor Epasinghe who is also Peradeniya University Chancellor and a Senior Presidential Advisor, said so while participating at the third South Asian Mobile Conference held in Colombo recently.
Delivering his welcome address the Professor greatly intrigued the multinational conference participants with the day’s latest ‘mobile phone-related’ news of Sri Lanka-initiated studies done to promote world mobile health.
“According to the Medical Research Institute of Sri Lanka, for the first time in the world, Sri Lankan scientists have found mites similar to scabies living inside mobile phones. They are studying these insects and we will know more about them really soon,” he said.
A large gathering of local and international enthusiasts attended the conference.
