Sri Lanka featured as thought leader at ACCA Summit, Malaysia

The incorporation of shared services, outsourcing and increasingly global business service models, have led to new questions arising on how delivery centres can best support the value creation agenda. This is particularly true for global finance functions as they seek to become even more efficient and effective partners to the organisation in their ‘go for growth’ strategies. The ACCA Finance Shared Services and Outsourcing Summit 2013 organised by ACCA Malaysia and held at Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur recently featured expert insights and case studies on changes affecting finance shared services and outsourcing delivery, and the impending challenges to be expected by finance professionals. The event was well attended and saw the participation of a large number of finance professionals from South and South East Asia. A delegation from Sri Lanka comprising Infomate Ltd. CEO Jehan Perinpanayagam, University of Sri Jayewardnepura Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce Department of Accounting Head Prof. D.S.N.P. Senaratne, SLASSCOM Executive Director Imran Furkan, Ernst & Young, Sri Lanka Transaction Advisory Services Senior Director Praveen Ruberu and HSBC Electronic Data Processing Lanka Ltd. Managing Director Decca Fan represented the Finance Shared Services Industry in Sri Lanka at this event with the courtesy of ACCA Sri Lanka and ACCA Malaysia. At this event Decca Fan who has been the Managing Director of HSBC Electronic Data Processing Lanka Ltd. in Sri Lanka since 2011 and Director of SLASSCOM and co-head of SLASSCOM’s HR/Capacity forum was featured on a panel discussion on Global Business Services 101 – Challenges and opportunities in implementation. Fan’s contribution was highly commented and brought attention to Sri Lanka’s rapidly growing Finance Shared Services Industry. Prior to coming to Sri Lanka, Decca was in charge of the operations for the HSBC Global Service Centre in Malaysia with 3,500 employees. She was also in charge of the Shanghai Operations Centre during 2003-2005.
