Startup Sri Lanka launches Disrupt 2.0

Slasscom’s startup arm Startup Sri Lanka is to host Disrupt 2.0. The aim of this event is to inspire and mentor fledgling startups. Events like this can help enable the startups to take it to the next level and will be beneficial towards the success of the ventures. 

Speaking on the event Slasscom Chairman Mano Sekaram stated, “We are constantly looking for ways in which to engage startups and build a healthy eco-system for them. With events like this we hope to reach out to the community and enable them with the tools for success.”

The theme for this event is ‘Inspire, Ideate, Initiate and Disrupt’ and will take place on 9 December, 4 p.m. onwards at Trace Expert City. There will be two inspirational talks as well which is open to public. The speakers include Tony Weeresinghe – Founder, MillenniumIT and Chairman/CEO and Laugfs Chairman, Hemachandra Wegapitiya. There are separate sessions with an illustrious group of mentors and subject experts who will share their personal stories with the audience. These sessions have limited seating and registration is encouraged.

Mentors are Harsha Purasinghe – Founder/CEO Microimage, Suren Pinto – CEO at Wavenet and Founder and CEO at Wifyer, Mangala Karunaratne – CEO Calcey Technologies, Chandika Jayasundera – CEO Cingergix, and Shahani Markus – Chairperson and CEO, Capaxus Ltd. Moderator and Investor Ruwindhu Pieris – MD, Stax.

Subject Experts will be Dr. Michael Nirmal De Silva – Country Manager, Regus (Infrastructure), Jeevan Gnanam – CEO, Orion City/Founding Director, Lankan Angel Network (Infrastructure/Investor), Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe – MD, Lanka Bell (Infrastructure), Sudath Perera – Senior Partner at Sudath Perera Associates (Legal), Naresh Abeyesekera – CEO, Secquero, (Financial Planning), Channa Manoharan – Advisory Leader/Chief Operating Officer, PwC Sri Lanka and Maldives, (Company secretarial work/tax/audit), Dilendra Wimalasekere – VP Marketing, WSO2 (Marketing), Dinesh Sapramadu – Founder and Chief Executive Officer of hSenid Group of Companies (Marketing), Nayana Samaranayake – Founder, Storylize (Incubations) and Haridhu Abeygoonaratne – Chief Operating Officer at SimCentric Technologies (Technology). 

“We all know ideas are worth nothing, but those who decide to do something about them know it is not easy being an entrepreneur. The odds are against you, however once you make it, it will look like an overnight victory. So our goal is to inspire those who are in it to achieve it,” concluded Calcey Technologies CEO Mangala Karunaratne.
