Sujeewa new CEO of Softlogic Communications

Sujeewa Karunasekera has joined the Softlogic Group as CEO of Softlogic Communications Ltd. with effect from 1 September.

 Softlogic Communications is the sole authorised distributor for Nokia mobile phones and accessories in Sri Lanka where Softlogic dominates the market.

Sujeewa is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 18 years of experience in large and multinational organisations and brings Sujeewa Karunasekerawith him extensive senior management experience in strategy, finance and commercial areas. As Director Financial Forecasting and Analysis with Emirates Telecom Corporation (Etisalat), in Abu Dhabi, UAE,  where he worked until returning to Sri Lanka to join the Softlogic Group, he was instrumental in and leading a team since 2007 that evaluated all commercial strategic initiatives for Etisalat Group’s principal Opco in UAE.

Prior to joining the Etisalat Group in 2005, he was the General Manager for International Services and Customer Service Operations at Lanka Bell Ltd in Sri Lanka where he was responsible for setting up of the company’s International Services Division. He also championed the successful introduction of a Balanced Scorecard Strategy throughout the company and headed the company’s Rates and Tariff committee which recommended rates and tariff to meet regulatory requirements.

He was also a Guest speaker at the Asian billing and revenue assurance summit held in Bangkok- Thailand on the subject of revenue leakage on international telecom. The paper highlighted the importance of telecos’ to monitor the sources of revenue leakages which contributes substantially to its EBITDA erosions which are often neglected.

Sujeewa is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, U.K. and holds a Bachelors Special Degree in Commerce, from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.  He is also a finalist of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.  Sujeewa started his career at Ernst and Young.

Sujeewa has held the position of Hon Treasurer of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka – the Government authorised national organisation to promote Chess in Sri Lanka and supervised the CSR based community programs at Lanka Bell.
