Tata Communications Lanka Ltd. appoints Janaka as CEO

Tata Communications Lanka Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Communications Limited, announced the appointment of Janaka Jayalath as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Janaka is a well-reputed mobile telecom expert in Sri Lanka and holds over 20 years of professional experience. Prior to joining Tata Communications Lanka Limited, Janaka was the Senior General Manager at Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd., one of the largest mobile operators in Sri Lanka.

Jayalath takes over from Ravi Sankar, who served as the CEO of Tata Communications Lanka Ltd. for the past nine years.

“Janaka comes with a wealth of experience having covered strategic management, finance and marketing and has extensive knowledge and understanding of the Sri Lanka telecommunications industry,” said Vish Govindasamy, Chairman of Tata Communications Lanka Ltd.

“We are confident that Janaka will maintain the growth trajectory we are on within this fast moving telecoms landscape as we take Tata Communications Lanka Ltd. to the next level.”

This is the first time that Tata Communications Lanka Ltd. will be led by a Sri Lankan CEO and much focus will be placed on further strengthen efforts to align with emerging market trends, building on local capabilities and introducing more localised products, services and infrastructure.
