New Delhi (IANS): Top 20 outsourcing companies in India grew by 13 per cent in 2010-11 and posted revenues worth Rs. 32,246 crore, said a report by Dataquest magazine Friday.

“The Top BPO companies posted revenues of Rs. 32,246 crore in 2010-11 maintaining a growth rate of 13 per cent – same as previous year,” the Dataquest BPO industry survey said.

According to the report, the industry is going through a transformational phase, as it leverages new technologies like cloud computing and focuses on emerging markets.

“The BPO industry is going through a major transformation with initiatives like building greater onshore capability, leveraging the cloud model and focusing on emerging markets,” said Shyamanuja Das, Editor, Dataquest.

The report further said that the top 20 firms also generated 13 per cent more jobs in 2010-11 by employing 3,11,167 people and maintaining a revenue productivity of about Rs.10 lakh per employee a year.

However, the top outsourcing firms lagged behind the growth of 25 per cent posted by top 20 IT (information technology) firms in 2010-11.  The list of top 20 outsourcing firms was headed by Genpact which grew at 24 per cent with revenues of Rs. 5,680 crore in 2010-11.

“The BPO arm of India’s software numero uno TCS grew a tad faster, at 25 per cent, with revenues of Rs.3,928 crore to occupy the No.2 slot in a list of top 20 BPO exporters in India,” the report said.

The report further said that the third position in the top revenue firms was taken by Essar group company Aegis BPO which grew at 28 per cent with revenues of Rs.2,352 crore.

Dataquest added that the rankings are based on the entire revenue of the firms other than that of their Indian domestic operations.  “For other companies, it takes only the export revenue accrued from their India operations,” Dataquest said.
