Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, Dialog Axiata PLC was a platinum sponsor of this event organised by International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Sri Lanka. The ICT branch of the Ministry of Education, National Child Protection Authority, Sri Lanka CERT, UNICEF Sri Lanka, Microsoft and 3M Lanka also supported this event. This is a continuation of Dialog’s long standing Be Mobile Wise program as more Sri Lankans are connected in increasingly different ways to digital lifestyles. The Be Mobile Wise program has evolved into the Be Technology Wise initiative as a part of which Dialog supported this event on safe internet usage. Dialog’s Be Technology Wise messages formed the core of the safety tips shared through this program. A panel discussion centred on children and safe internet usage was held with the participation of representatives from the partner organisations. On behalf of the Dialog management, Dialog Axiata PLC Head of Broadband and Fixed Telecommunications Navin Peiris shared his views about safer online/mobile phone usage for the younger generation along with the services Dialog offers to ensure online safety of children. ICDL conducted presentations to teachers from 100 schools in creative ways of engaging their students on safe internet usage, whilst Dialog distributed note books, banners and posters to broaden the message on internet safety at the event.
