Wavenet, a leading provider of cutting edge solutions and platforms to Telecom Operators around the world, yesterday announced the launch of its next generation Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions stack to be showcased at the forthcoming 12th edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Mobile World Congress is an annual convention organised by the GSMA (GSM Association) gathering technologists, key executives, device manufacturers, mobile operators, vendors and content owners from around the world to network, stage innovations and impart knowledge, where Wavenet will be presenting their unique proposition.
With over a decade of telecom domain experience, Wavenet has been able to gain an insight of operator pain points concerning widely used offerings such as messaging and media services. Messaging services such as SMS and USSD used the same protocols but operated in separate systems, proving to be both onerous and exceedingly pricey for telecom operators. Wavenet merged these related services to single platforms, facilitating operators to gain savings, optimise resource sharing and simplify management.
“Operators need to streamline their networks to serve the growing mobile subscribers and meet high QoS (Quality of Service). However, more hardware should be purchased to serve the changing subscriber demands. Such a static system does not offer the flexibility to shape networks organically. Therefore, several Operators presented NFV, which is the application of standard IT virtualisation technologies, to their networks in order to overcome these challenges,” CEO of the company Suren Pinto said.
Never one to rest on its laurels, Wavenet now delivers these platforms using the latest technologies such as NFV, which is a network architecture concept using IT virtualisation.
As data centre administrators look for technologies that simplify network functions while offering lesser costs, better scalability and progress in network agility, what’s embraced is NFV.
NFV is increasingly becoming attractive to integrators and value added resellers (VARs) who need to spot strategies that compliment virtualisation and network programmability, Pinto adds.
The company’s comprehensive knowledge of the telecom domain has helped them deploy both turnkey and customised solutions from Oceania to Latina America, touching the lives of over 100 million consumers. The solutions are highly scalable and are built using open standards for smoother network integration.
Wavenet’s comprehensive portfolio of products and services allow operators to offer differentiated subscriber services, create new revenue streams, reduced churn, control OpEx and enhance subscriber experience.
