WSO2 the lean enterprise middleware company completed ten workshops in the month of November 2011, spanning across five continents and seven different countries. The highly interactive one-day sessions provided an in-depth understanding of WSO2’s technology and best practices to IT Professionals, architects and developers.
The workshops covered 3 different areas of interest:
Cloud-Enabled Modular Middleware
Conducted in Vancouver, San Francisco, Frankfurt, Geneva and Colombo, the workshops explored core cloud and service-oriented architecture (SOA) concepts around multi-tenancy, platform-as-a-service (PaaS), governance, and more. They also showcased how the 100% open source OSGi-compliant WSO2 Carbon middleware platform, WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform, and WSO2 StratosLive public PaaS provides a complete solution for enterprise computing—both on-premise and in the cloud.
Practical SOA for the Solution Architect
Three workshops were conducted in Australia targeting solution architects. They focused on the SOA philosophy in an easily understandable, practical and applicable form, independent of the actual tools used to implement it. It was based on the whitepaper published by WSO2 earlier this year, which can be downloaded from http://wso2.com/casestudies/practical-soa-for-the-solution-architect/
Open Platform-as-a-Service
This hands-on workshop in Brazil provided an opportunity to understand PaaS, WSO2 Stratos, SOA Governance and Enterprise 2.0 concepts. Key topics included understanding PaaS and how it fits into the cloud story, governance in the cloud and understanding the role of Open Social Gadgets in cloud middleware.
All workshops were well attended and WSO2 plans on organising many more in the coming months as well. The workshop format mixes informative presentations and concrete demonstrations, presented by experienced SOA architects with broad experience in both the technologies and practical challenges facing enterprise projects.
Most workshops include a special guest speaker to share an additional perspective or industry experience with SOA. There is plenty of opportunity for interaction and Q&A. WSO2 also organises private workshops for interested and qualified parties. For more details visit http://wso2.com.
