The Chinese New Year celebrations, also known as the Spring Festival, originated on the day when one of China’s mythological emperors Shun ascended the throne more than 4,000 years ago. On this day the Chinese decorate their homes with red lanterns, entertain friends and relatives and reunite over a traditional meal. In keeping with this age old tradition, The Kingsbury has ventured to bring this rich Chinese experience over to Sri Lanka, at its elegant Chinese Restaurant – Yue Chuan.
Yue Chuan serves authentic Szechuan and Cantonese dishes, prepared with much attention to flavourful detail by Chinese chefs themselves. The restaurant has aptly captured the spirit of the orient within its dull bronze walls with embossed design of cherry blossoms, traditional Chinese lanterns and soft background music. On 31 January and 1 February Yue Chuan brings to you an authentic Chinese New Year experience as a culinary delight. From Stir fried prawns with XO chilli sauce and Wok fried lamb with black pepper sauce, to the more traditional dishes would be served at the restaurant. Be there to indulge your every Chinese food fantasy as you usher in the New Year just as in China. A five course menu will be served with exotic dishes ranging from Lamb, Prawns, Cuttlefish and Pork. The set menu will be priced at Rs. 2,900 all inclusive per person at Yue Chuan from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on both days.
It is interesting to note that the Luna New Year 2014 is declared as the Year of the Horse and is believed to be a symbol of travelling and speedy success. Having won two International Awards, namely the ‘World Luxury Hotel’ Award and the ‘Wellness and Spa’ Award, The Kingsbury has already made its mark at success. In this New Year the establishment looks forward to mount into greater heights to achieve its goals of success by offering the best customised hospitality services available in the country.
