After one of the most talked about fashion contests in 2011, Chokolaate brings you one of the country’s most anticipated fashion contests in Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion Designer 2012 Contest. Yes, the show is finally at hand. The hard work of a group of dedicated and fierce competitors began months ago. And now it has come down to the grand showdown for 14 of them on 12 May at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The top 14 finalists who would battle it out at the finale are Ama Liyanage, Anushka Pilimatalawwe, Shaheen Sourjah, Dimitri Fernando, Udaya Madusanka, Jayanika Chamani, Niluka Bogahawatte, Manoshi Hansapani, Dilshani Satharasingha, Vindya Keerthirathne, Gangu Roshana, Parvin Mohamed Iqbal, Poornima Dulanjalee and Ravihari Gamage.
The challenge which began three years ago, has grown into a title that every young aspiring fashion designer wants to have in their cupboard of trophies, let alone the title of MDFD 2012. Being part of the competition itself sets the stage and begins a journey for all those young designers. The competition is an original and designed in such a way that it gives the designer the opportunity and the task of displaying a wider array of their skill in design. It tests the competitors and takes them through an unforgettable journey that will last a lifetime.
The show also made way, for real mothers and daughters to walk the ramp together. They display professional skills and take ownership for the ramp. It’s is a sight not to be missed. The models will go through an intense training in order to give the outfits of the designers its due reward in the eyes of the judges.
It is down to the finalists to get down and get their hands dirty and work towards pulling out brilliance from their hats. Every stick and every thread are going to be scrutinized by an eminent panel of judges that will only be unravelled at the show. It is a show at which competition is at its highest levels and cheers and tears go hand in hand
Over the years the show has grown and seen the industry grow and expand, and it has become an annual event for all the leading design schools in the country. It’s an event where there is fashion on and off the stage with a hall full of fashion enthusiasts. Red carpets, photo backdrops and photographers, media, glamour outfits all come together under one roof in one compact night that heads into a fashion after party. Yes, you read it right a fashion after party. The DJ’s spin their disks for designers, models, supporters and all fashion lovers.

We are also exploring new styles of execution to make Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion Designer Contest an unforgettable fashion extravaganza for the year 2012,” said the show director Prassanna Pathmanathan.
