Cinnamon Grand Colombo’s staff showcased their talents at the 20th Marie Brizard Cocktail Competition, Colombo District Finals, last week by securing the highest number of entries to participate at the overall all island Marie Brizard Cocktail Competition.
This is the first time in the history of the competition, that one hotel, has been able to garner the highest number of entries for the overall competition.
Cinnamon Grand shone in the Classical Category by winning the first, second, fourth and fifth positions in the competition. R.A Thanushi Perera of the Courtyard Restaurant won the Best Classical Cocktail for her creation of ‘Shades of Pink’. M.D Sampath of Chutneys was placed 2nd whilst the 4th and 5th positions went to P. Karunarathna of the Tea Lounge and K. Nisansala Alwis of the Taprobane.
In the Flaring Category Cinnamon Grand associates E. Cheshan Buddhika of Breeze Bar and P. P. Pradeep K. Jayasooriya of Banquets won 4th and 5th places respectively.
The All Island Competition will be held on 27 July at Cinnamon Grand and the overall winners will have the opportunity to attend the World Cocktail Competition in Singapore.
The Marie Brizard Cocktail Competition is a much-looked forward to event in the hotel sector and is considered the key platform, to showcase, reward and recognise the talents of young people specialising in these areas of concocting, creating and presenting cocktails.
