Known for its rich and appetising dishes, Italian cuisine comes to The Dining Room with an array of rustic Italian dishes from 8 to 22 September.
Italian cuisine has developed over the centuries and is heavily influenced by various neighbouring countries. Similar to many of their neighbours, the Italian way of life revolves around food and this type of cuisine is known to be one of the most popular across the world.
Italian cuisine truly captures the simplicity of a home cooked meal and chefs at The Dining Room have replicated these home cooked meals to create familiar warmth in every dish.
During the special promotion, The Dining Room Buffet hosts a wide selection of Italian treats representing the regional flavours of the entire country. The starters comprise of a selection of antipasti from fresh calamari salad to bruschetta. Antipasti, meaning appetiser, loosely translates to ‘tidbit before a meal’. The importance of antipasti varies between Italian regions with some unable to start a meal without a tidbit.
Indulge in some of Italy’s classic dishes such as the thick Italian soup Minestrone. This hearty soup is filled with vegetables, pasta and beans. Italy is most famous for its pizza and pasta which are appreciated throughout the world. The Dining Room offers various classic pizzas and pastas from the traditional long stranded spaghetti; the elegantly shaped penne and fusili to angel hair comprise the wide variety of pastas on offer. Experience a selection of sauces that add an abundance of flavours to complement each type of pasta. The taste of traditional putanesca, four formaggi, bolognese and carbonara are amongst many sauces.
A whole different world of pasta is waiting to be explored with the spinach and ricotta ravioli and seafood lasagne amongst a variety of baked and stuffed pasta dishes that ooze the home cooked feel present in every dish. The rich and creamy risotto on offer from seafood risotto to the traditional mushroom risotto is not to be missed.
Most traditional Italian desserts are cold desserts such as panna cotta and the famous tiramisu which combines the flavours of rich cream and one of Italy’s specialities espresso coffee.
