Salute to Chandra Jayaratne
I read with interest Ramachandran’s letter to the Editor of the Daily Financial Times. Obviously I agree that Chandra Jayaratne could have done a lot more during the previous regime. He did however make some noise in the newspapers. However, Ramachandran is a card-carrying UNP professional. He did next to nothing opposing those transactions all these years (10 years)? Obviously he would like to support the UNP now, however wrong it is. Maybe to get noted to get an appointment or sit on a Board? There is no doubt the bond deal was not right from the word go and the appointment of the committee with those credentials was not right. Therefore, Chandra did what Ramachandran would never do, he went to court for good governance. I salute him. The court is at least now independent. Let them decide for God’s sake. Dr. Harsha never went to court for the EPF mismanagement, it was the JVP and Sujeewa who did that without fear. Anyway what is Dr. Harsha doing now? He is silent! The new Government was appointed under Maithripala Sirisena to change old habits, not to promote them. Surely, Ramachandran can understand this? Congratulations, Chandra. Charith
