One Mallawatantri has surely been given a contract to defend Mahendran, the Singaporean citizen.

I don’t know Mahendran, I don’t want to even know him. I am writing as a supporter of the current President. The actions of Mahendran is a black mark on the President. For what? He is not even a Sri Lankan, so why should he be protected like this and to an extent that the Prime Minister’s and the Finance Minister’s jobs are now at stake?

I have done no survey to check Mahendran’s popularity. But if I talk to 10 people, they all want Mahendran out of the Central Bank and the country. The Prime Minister had gone miles to say that Mahendran had to run away because of the Rajapaksa Government.

I said this was bunkum, because many respectable Tamil professionals who stayed away from indulging in local politics did very well, such as NDB CEO Theagarajah and current CEO of Commercial Bank Durairathnam. There are many more.

Mahendran would have gone oversees because he could not find a good job in Sri Lanka. There is no point trying to ridicule the former President; he did a great job by eliminating terrorism in the country. We have now a duty to protect the current President and not Mahendran.

We can find many Mahendrans, surely not Sirisenas. Mallawatantri should read Champika Ranawaka’s statement in the media recently about the bond fraud and advice Mahendran to please go back to his country without giving grief to the President.
