No difference between Arjuna and Nivard; both the same

I read Mihidu’s letter in the Daily FT about Nivard Cabraal and I thought I should respond. For me there is no difference between both Governors. Both are discredited people.

Nivard unlike Arjuna did not get ridiculed to such an extent. Nivard had total control over what he was doing and was Governor for over eight years. He was amiable, could speak well and with great composure and got away with most things.

Mahendran has very little of those attributes and from the word go has been under pressure; he had only the blessings of the Prime Minister. The President even opposed his appointment.

When the media reported yesterday that the Prime Minister was going to make a special statement, people expected something major. It was a horrible disappointment that he took so much national time to defend the Governor.

Now it begs the question why the Prime Minister is going to such an extreme to protect the bond deal.

Something is really fishy and people will soon deliver their verdict on 17 August.

Mihidu may be a supporter of Arjuna and must be getting irritated by what Nivard is saying.

That is Nivard’s right. Ask the current Governor to respond to Nivard, nobody believes him when he says he is not involved, because his son-in-law has got 50% of that bond issue.

Arjuna by his actions may actually deprive the UNP its election victory. Shame, sir!
