Siromi Wickremesinghe, the sister of former Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal, has been named as a Director of Perpetual Securities which was involved in the controversial bond issue. In her letter to the FT on 7 July, she states that though she was a Director from December 2013 to March 2015, there were no board meetings during that period and she did not get any remuneration. Then why be on the board of such a company? Was it merely to sell her name as being the Governor’s sister?
