CRYSBRO sponsors Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association 59th AGM

The CRYSBRO Group well-known for quality, freshness and innovation in breeding and processing of chicken in Sri Lanka for over four decades will take the initiative of sponsoring Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association in the landmark year 2018 where the association will be celebrating its Diamond Jubilee.

CRYSBRO the number one choice of Lankan housewives also was the main sponsor of the 59th AGM of Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association held recently.

Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association inaugurated in 1958 by a leading pioneer in women’s rights Lorna Wright has grown from strength to strength over the years bringing together a chain of friendship and camaraderie among the housewives from nook and corner of the island. The Association hopes to extend branches in the North and East in the near future. Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association President Suhaila Hussain and her committee are busy planning a memorable Diamond Jubilee Celebration in August 2018, where the Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association family will showcase their talents in the field of song, dance, fashions and stage acts under the guidance and sponsorship of the nation’s chicken provider CRYSBRO.

Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association during its 60 years of existence have extended a yeoman service to the housewives of Sri Lanka which consist of young and elderly mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers from Colombo and 17 branches spread around the island. The association has for six decades created bonds of friendship among all communities helping them to improve their quality of life by conducting valuable programs on healthcare, culinary art, gardening, beauty care, fashions, home management and décor on members’ days. They also enjoy Mothers’ Day Picnics, fund raising events, seasonal celebrations, sales and exhibitions.

Being the largest women’s organisation in Sri Lanka with an island wide membership of around 5,000 women, the association is generously supported by many reputed companies dealing in consumer products, who organise interesting meetings with sales incentives, demonstrations, prizes and entertainment.

Addressing the CRYSBRO sponsored 60th AGM of the Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Lecturer Dr. Krishanthi Premarathne emphasised the importance of protein in the human diet. Addressing the CRYSBRO sponsored Sri Lanka Housewives’ Association on the topic ‘Importance of Protein in Meals and Food Safety’ she said that protein is an essential nutrient of the human diet to maintain a healthy life. When buying animal proteins, quality and safety are key considerations she emphasised. The food safety management systems (FSMSs) including ISO 22000, HACCP and BRC certifications are internationally recognised standards that comply with the food regulatory requirements and specifications. 

A preventive and systematic approach is used in FSMSs to identify and prevent food-borne hazards. Therefore, FSMSs provides the customers with high level of confidence in the product that they purchase and that it is safe for consumption. Being an informed consumer is beneficial to the economy, market and consumers as they can make sensible decisions and smart purchase of food which is necessary for health and well-being, she urged.
