Come celebrate the joys of the New Year in true traditional Sri Lankan style this April at Waters Edge. The signature Sri Lankan restaurant Thuna Paha is transforming itself to an ‘Avurudu Gammanaya’ complete with the sights and sounds of true village life. Overlooking the tranquil waters of the Diyawanna, this will be the ideal location to spend the holidays.
Month of Waffles
Head on down to the Tea Lounge at Waters Edge any time this April for an overflow of warm comfort food as we celebrate the ol’ favourite waffle. Topped with spicy chicken bockwurst or grilled vegetables and sundried tomatoes for the spicy fans or a complete indulgence of chocolate coated waffle with strawberry and basil or a Nutella waffle for the sweet lovers, the aroma of these delights itself will be enough to comfort your soul.
Kavili Kade
One of the best parts about April is the chance to savour those traditional Sri Lankan sweetmeats oozing with honey. But Colombo folk can hardly find the time to make them at home. So, Waters Edge is setting up a live cooking Kavili Kade where all the sweet treats will be turned out right before your eyes. Bring the entire family down from the 10-17 April to witness the making of kavum, kokis, mung kavum and more.
Avurudu at
Thuna Paha
For the real experience of a gamey Avurudu, the signature Sri Lankan restaurant at Waters Edge Thuna Paha is creating an Avurudu Gammanaya on 7 April complete with all the traditional games like kotta pora, tug-o-war and much more. The all-Sri Lankan menu will feature favourites from all corners of our island nation paying tribute to the harmonious island life that is celebrated with the dawning of the New Year.
