Dankotuwa Porcelain unveils signature showroom at Guildford Crescent

World-renowned Dankotuwa Porcelain is well known for its quality products in tableware and has showrooms all around the country. With Colombo being a tourism hub and shopping precinct, Dankotuwa unveiled its newest addition at Guildford Crescent Colombo 7 on 7 December.

Pottery in Sri Lanka dates back to 500 BC, thus Dankotuwa hopes to carry on the cultural creativity while highlighting artistic designs directly inspired by the country’s unique island surroundings and picturesque habitat.

Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC Chairman Rajan Asirwatham who was the chief guest at the investiture said: “Our overall growth plan for 2020 includes several exciting initiatives such as this signature showroom that is aimed at taking the group to new heights as a world class manufacturer of premium porcelain tableware.”

Speaking on the company’s future strategy of enhancing product sales, he said: “We are also in the process of transforming the Dankotuwa Porcelain brand by including well-planned distribution strategies to increase customer accessibility to Sri Lanka’s iconic porcelain brands.”

The signature showroom offers a variety of crockery porcelain from kitchen sets, dinner sets, tea sets to elegantly-crafted shattered glass designed mugs and so forth. Alongside local brands Dankotuwa and Royal Fernwood, the store also houses international brands including Portmeirion which is a UK brand and Lenox which is an American brand.

Portmeirion is recognised as one of the best hotel tableware brands and is placed as the third best in the world. After two years of tireless efforts, today Dankotuwa manufactures and builds products for the world-famous company. Delamere bouquet, botanic blue, winter’s scene, botanic garden, Pomona and Italian are few of the Portmeirion branded porcelains available at the outlet.

“With iconic local brands and reputed global brands under one roof at the signature showroom, I am sure that the Sri Lankan consumer will now have a memorable retail experience when shopping, satisfying their various tableware needs,” stated Asirwatham.

Royal Fernwood Porcelain being another well-renowned brand has contributed to the sales outlet by offering a variety of exquisite displays of both cultural and modern designs. Together with Royal Fernwood Porcelain Ltd. Operating Officer Yoshan Fernando and his team, Dankotuwa CEO Wasaba Jayasekara and his group hope to capture the eyes of many customers through their striking and artsy ceramic products.

Themed Platinum Tracy Dankotuwa Signature offers 93 piece sets for a price of Rs. 158,582 that consists of 12 cups, one large bowl, 12 salad plates, 12 BB plates, one creamer, 12 sauces, one casserole with lid, 12 cereal bowls, one tea pot with lid, one platter, 12 dinner plates, 12 fruit saucers and one sugar bowl with lid while the sets are also available in variations, 12 piece tea sets, 17 piece tea sets, 21 piece dinner sets and 35 piece dinner sets.

Meanwhile, 93 piece tableware sets are also available in the Sayuni Gold category for a set price of Rs. 133,085 and is available in six piece dinner sets, 12 piece tea sets, 17 piece tea sets, 21 piece dinner sets and 35 piece dinner sets. Likewise the new store offers a wide variety of designed excellence and innovative world class cutlery. Not only does the outlet enable clients to purchase high quality products but offers a corporate conference room for their leading customers, a café run by the Galle Face Hotel to enjoy a bite on the side and an outdoor veranda that will enable customers to relish a cup of coffee with a beautiful view of the historic Independence Square and the cultural iconic Lionel Wendt Theatre.
