The ‘Designer Wedding Show 2017’, a much-looked-forward to event in the wedding industry of Sri Lanka, will be presented by the Bride and Groom Magazine together with hospitality partner Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo on Tuesday, 28 November. This exclusive annual event will showcase exquisite bridal designs by the country’s leading wedding professionals, including top bridal designers and hair and makeup artistes, bringing together in vogue trends in the Sri Lankan wedding industry.
The show, presented by the Bride and Groom Wedding Magazine together with the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, will feature the world renowned De Lanerolle Brothers and is one of the first events of this scale taking place at the most awaited and newly-opened luxury hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. Following the success of seven Designer Wedding Shows since the first presentation in 2009, the show this year, in partnership with Rohan and Ishan – popularly known as The De Lanerolle Brothers, bring you an enthralling act with the brothers singing ‘live’ while the top most bridal designers, and hair and makeup artistes in Sri Lanka showcase their stunning designs on the ramp.
The ’Designer Wedding Show 2017’ is scheduled to be held at the Shangri-La Ballroom from 6:30 p.m. onwards on 28 November.
The designers participating at the show in alphabetical are Charith Wijesekera, Cheryl Gooneratne, Dhananjaya Bandara, Hameedia, Michael Wijesuriya, Nayana Karunaratne, Premshri Hewawasam, PVS Jayaratne, Ramani Fernando & Aslam Hussein, Ramzi Rahaman, Romesh Atapattu, Sarita, Sumudu Kumarasiri, Sumudu Wasantha, Terin Gabbalage, Thusitha Ethugala, Yoland Aluwihare. A special life time achievement award will be awarded to Lou Ching Wong followed by a unique creation done by him.
Speaking about the upcoming show, Timothy Wright, Vice President and General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo had this to say: “We are very pleased to be the hospitality partner of the Designer Wedding Show 2017. Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo has the largest and most luxurious event spaces in the city including the Shangri-La Ballroom that seats 1500 guests, the Lotus Ballroom that seats 400 guests, the Spice Room with flexible break out rooms, and a stunning outdoor lawn on the fourth floor overlooking the ocean.
Speaking at the media conference, Pramith Mallawaratchie, CEO of Bride and Groom Wedding Magazine, reiterated his pleasure to partner with the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, and The De Lanerolle Brothers. He further stated, “This year the audience will have the privilege of listening to the LIVE performance of The De Lanerolle Brothers, who will be singing some popular songs from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s as the models showcase the bridal fashions on the ramp, making this a one-of a-kind show.” Adding his comments, Rohan de Lanerolle said, “We are indeed honoured to have been invited to be part of the most-looked-forward to Designer Wedding Show in the country presented by the Bride and Groom Magazine together with the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. Ishan and I firmly believe that being part of a show such as this only makes the brand ‘De Lanerolle’ stronger in an industry where we look towards improving ourselves, which in turn will add value to the whole concept.”
The decor at the event will be executed by Poru, and Mal-Key Rent-A-Car is the official transport partner of the event. Hameedia, the official grooms wear partner will showcase their designer collection as the Principal Sponsor of the event, whilst Arpico, Janashakthi and Amante will also be on board as gold sponsors of the event. Raja Jewellers will be the official jewellery partner while Sarita Textorium presenting a fashion show of saris and PVS Jayaratne with their traditional Mul Endum costumes are the co- sponsor together with Glow. Wijeya Newspapers, Real Radio and Dialog TV will be the event’s media sponsors. The gifts presented at the event are from Sothys, Esthetic Centre, Kentand Noritake. Red Velvet Photography, Studio 3000df, Light Flow, Dylan Seedin and Jehan Seedin will be the official photographers for the event and Studio U will be the videography partner. Remember to strike a pose at the photobooths at the event which will be run by Photobooths in Sri Lanka.
The all-important aspect of the production will be handled by Live Productions Ltd.
