Exhibition and demonstration of Japanese art of flower arrangement

Ikebana artist and master Sogetsu practitioner Christopher Lim, Riji, will be back in Sri Lanka to headline the 11th Annual Exhibition and Demonstration of the Sri Lankan Chapter of Ikebana International entitled ‘Blossoms of Hope – 2019’.

The exhibition will take place over the weekend of 21 and 22 September at the Ramada Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn) and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The demonstration will be conducted on Sunday 22 September at 5 p.m. These two events are much looked forward to by all connoisseurs and enthusiasts of Japanese culture and the floral arts.

Christopher Lim, Riji, who is from Singapore, will be presenting a live performance/demonstration of this ancient art of Ikebana on the last day of the event. Christopher has been practicing the art of ikebana for over 36 years and holds the highest rank of ‘Riji’ in the Sogetsu School of ikebana. He has taught Ikebana in over 10 countries in Asia and has served as Senior Advisor to the Sri Lankan Chapter since its founding. 

Christopher, who dazzles audiences with his artistry, is much in demand internationally as a demonstrator of Sogetsu ikebana. He also holds an Aifd. qualification in Western flower arrangement and has won many accolades.

Tickets cost Rs. 300 and are available at the door. Ticket price includes admission to the 5 p.m. demonstration on Sunday 21 September. Exhibition hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 September. Proceeds of the exhibition are in aid of children with cancer.
