The Galle Face Hotel celebrated the start of the holiday season in style with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree among guests and friends of the hotel.
Guests were treated to an array of delightful canapés and Christmas delicacies such as mulled wine, while everyone sang along to carols sung by the St. Methodist’s College Choir. The lights on the Christmas tree were switched on by Galle Face Hotel Deputy Chairman Mavis Gardiner.
This year, the hotel put a new twist on the traditional Christmas tree by creating a “Tree of Kites”. For centuries, the Galle Face Hotel has boasted a stunning view of the endless Indian Ocean, happy families, and a multitude of vibrant kites flapping against the sky. The exhilaration and joy of flying a kite at the Galle Face Green is a part of every childhood – an experience that connects generations in Sri Lanka.
Much like the scene it overlooks, the hotel itself has been synonymous with friends, family and moments of soaring joy. In the true spirit of Christmas, the Galle Face Hotel celebrates these moments by creating this Tree of Kites, with the hope of bringing a familiar yet festive cheer to the season.
