In the intricate world of fashion, where every thread tells a story, House of Janaan has woven an extraordinary narrative of cultural celebration and contemporary design throughout its inaugural year. What began as a passionate vision has blossomed into a transformative journey that reimagines Pakistani heritage through the lens of modern sophistication. The brand’s trajectory is a testament to its Founder Sarah Illyas’s visionary approach.
From an intimate pop-up event in 2018 to the grand unveiling of their flagship store in December 2023, House of Janaan has consistently pushed the boundaries of design. Now celebrating their first-year anniversary, the brand launched a special collaboration with Kingsman Studio and unveiled the “Janaan Festive Collection”. Another significant milestone celebrated recently was the brands first international pop-up in Malaysia, recording its highest sell-through to date.
Highlighting this journey, House of Janaan Founder Sarah Illyas stated: “With over a decade of experience in fashion, I knew I carried a vision that was more than just a business – it was a calling. Our brand is more than just clothing. We are creating a sanctuary that celebrates the very soul of Pakistani heritage, carefully reinterpreted for the contemporary woman. Each piece is a reflection of my personal growth, my passion for fashion storytelling, and my commitment to bringing a piece of rich tradition to the global fashion landscape.”
The past year has seen House of Janaan expand its creative horizons with key milestones and moments that created a lasting impact in the fashion industry. The “Jawahir” collection, unveiled in this landmark store, epitomised the brand’s ethos – a delicate dance between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary elegance. Each piece was meticulously crafted, telling a story of cultural richness and modern aspiration. The inaugural Eid collection in April 2022 marked a significant triumph, blending traditional celebration with contemporary flair. In addition, the House of Janaan’s first Eid Bazaar welcomed over 350 visitors and showcased 22 carefully curated vendors, transforming a simple collection launch into a vibrant cultural experience.
A distinctive pinnacle of the year was the launch of the brands first bridal collection—a breathtaking ensemble in a unique baroque bronze, adorned with hand-embellished details that promised to last a lifetime. Each piece was a carefully constructed narrative of love, tradition, and personal expression. The collaboration with Kingsman Studio further showcased the brand’s innovative spirit, introducing a one-of-a-kind waistcoat collection that blended traditional tailoring with contemporary design.
Looking ahead, House of Janaan remains poised for continued growth ensuring its vision extends beyond borders, promising collections that will continue to celebrate the nuanced beauty of cultural expression, one exquisite piece at a time. With plans to expand its bridal collection and continue its mission of bringing refined craftsmanship to a global audience, House of Janaan stands steadfast to redefine the landscape of contemporary fashion. The anniversary “Janaan Festive Collection” at the House of Janaan will be available to purchase at No 1, 33rd Lane, Off Bagatalle Road, Colombo 3 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Sunday.
