  • Piramal launches a range of glassware for home use – available at selected Arpico stores

The Believers in Glass movement issued a strong statement today reiterating that using plastics to store food has a deleterious effect on food and thereby on the health of those consuming it. In light of the fact, we are delighted that Piramal Glass has decided to address the need by launching a range of glassware for food storage.

Piramal Glass CEO Sanjay Tiwari stated: “In the recent past, we have seen an increasing demand for glassware from all section of consumers. People walk in to our factory outlet, call our landlines, all to buy glassware for food and drinking water storage. Even though our business is primarily a B2B, we have been catering to these requests. Now, we have created a range of glassware products to meet this demand. We have designed and created a range of glassware that’s meant to store food at home, keeping it safe, tasty, free of any contamination and long lasting. The company has also introduced a range of water bottles in different colours and sizes.”

Piramal Glass further stated that these products have been created keeping the Sri Lankan consumer, their food storage habits in mind, for the kinds of food they store. Any consumer desirous of buying these can now also buy from the select Arpico stores. The list of stores is posted on the Facebook page of Believers in Glass.

The Believers in Glass movement urges consumers to use this opportunity to shift from plastics to glass to ensure that the food they store is safe and healthy for consumption over a long period of time.

“Our battle to spread awareness on this issue has received a big boost with this launch. The lack of availability of glass in retail segment has been the single biggest barrier to change and we have now begun addressing this, thanks to Piramal Glass. Now it’s up to each one of us to make that shift by visiting Arpico and buying the glassware. We now have no excuse to stay with plastics which are proven to be harmful for our own health and to the environment as well.”
