Chief Guest Shehan Karunatilleke
Harpo Gooneratne at Mews light up
While keeping up with the annual tradition yet moving towards deeper significance, this year we come together to celebrate friendships at the Mews.
Last year saw a sombre Mews Light Up due to the pandemic. Christmas this year continues along these lines considering the economic meltdown Sri Lanka is facing. Extravagance is never the measure of joy, so the Mews dives deeper into what truly matters; the plethora of friendships and beautiful community it has accumulated over the years. Park Street Mews has always been a space of wonder and light where the core remains relationships built over time. So, the theme is ‘Celebrating friendships at the Mews.’
Straying away from traditional red, this year’s light-up carries teal and gold amongst multiple festive colours. The friendships being celebrated are golden, and the joy being brought is evergreen; cementing the relevance of these beautiful shades. Colourful stars will adorn the street, keeping the Christmas magic hanging right above. They invite all to bask under the lights, stars, and wonder of the Street.
This year’s chief guest has brought much joy and pride to the country. Shehan Karunatilaka is the Booker Prize winner of 2022, and has put Sri Lanka on the map, bringing recognition and attention to our beautiful island, all the way from Roundhouse in London. Park Street Mews is honoured to host this celebrated author at the annual Mews Light Up and as Sri Lankans, we are proud and grateful.
The much-loved Santa returns this year to spread love and wonder to all. The restaurant partners down the street, Monsoon, Chambers, Uncle’s, Kuuraku, Park Street Trattoria, Café Français by Pourcel, the Mews Restaurant, and Curve Bar will offer a diverse range of culinary experiences this joyous Christmas season.
