Scope Cinemas that has opened doors to the public following the COVID-19 lockdown has ensured a safe and hygienic environment for patrons at all its cinema halls in Colombo.

The tedious task of ensuring every seat has been carefully sanitised after each show was a challenge taking up time and effort. This was until Chairman Naveed Cader came across an innovative solution to this challenge – electrostatic disinfection.

“I was researching into various ways we could disinfect the cinema hall thoroughly and efficiently. That is when I came across the Victory electrostatic disinfection sprayer and soon found that it was available in Sri Lanka,” said Cader.

Electrostatic disinfection technology is not new to the world but came to the fore during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis as an effective counter measure to the spread of the virus. “We not only wanted to simply meet the standards set by the Health Ministry and the Public Health Department but exceed them in order to give full confidence to our valued movie goers that they could return to Scope Cinemas without any fear,” noted Scope Cinemas CEO Thushan Meemanage.

Scope Cinemas procured the electrostatic disinfection sprayer ‘Victory’ from Cleansol Ltd., the authorised resellers for Victory in Sri Lanka. The Victory electrostatic sprayers, are the first and only cordless sprayers available in the world. It is an easy to use device that disinfects a large area in a fraction of the time and at a significantly lower operational cost.

Cleansol Ltd. Director Naqeeb Hussain said: “We were able to show the Scope Team who were deploying two persons and taking 30 minutes to disinfect a cinema hall that they could now do so by employing just one person, using less chemicals and cut down the disinfection time from 30 to 10 minutes.”
