Siddhalepa hosted the Kekulu Art Competition 2024 Award Ceremony on Sunday, 1 December, at the J.R. Jayewardene Centre in Colombo, where pre-school children from across Sri Lanka were celebrated for their creativity and expressiveness.
The event, now in its 10th consecutive year, was organised to recognise the artistic talents of children who participated in the competition, with prizes awarded to the best entries.
It was graced by Chief Guest Education Ministry Aesthetics Studies Director Waruna Alahakoon, along with other invitees and sponsors. The ceremony was supported by various sponsors, including the main sponsor, Fragrance Oil Ltd., with media partners Neth FM (Asset Radio Broadcasting Ltd.) as the Radio Partner and Funday Times (Wijeya Newspapers Ltd.) as the official Print Partner, Banking Partner Hatton National Bank, as well as Pheonix Industries Ltd. and Samaposha.
This year’s competition, held in lieu of World Children’s Day, focused on themes related to the topic of ‘A Rainy Day’, receiving over 60,000 entries from children aged 2 1/2-5 across all 25 districts of Sri Lanka. A panel of esteemed judges, including renowned artists Kusum Mangalika and Bandula Harischandra, evaluated the entries based on creativity, originality, and thematic alignment. The winning entries were selected for their artistic excellence and relevance to the competition’s theme. Winners Buvindu Deelaka Siriwardhena, K.G. Tashenya Kenudi Perera, and A.D. Sanudi Thisansa won first, second, and third place, respectively.
While the key winners were given special gifts, a total of 100 winners were presented with a certificate and an array of gifts during the ceremony, including monetary gifts, school bags, and exclusive Siddhalepa Kekulu product hampers. In addition to the main awards, winners received a savings account and book courtesy of Hatton National Bank, in encouragement of the importance of saving money.
Kekulu, a brand synonymous with children’s well-being, offers a range of toiletries such as Kekulu soap, which is available in Aloe Vera, Jasmine, Hibiscus, and Arudha, while Kekulu Cologne comes in Hibiscus and Jasmine variants, along with toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Siddhalepa’s commitment to promoting creativity in children was evident in the continued success of the Kekulu Art Competition dedicated to kids’ art, serving as a platform for children to express themselves.
The brand continues to play a pivotal role in supporting the creative development of pre-schoolers, with this competition being a platform to showcase kids’ art through their brand for children. Thus, the Kekulu Art Competition has become one of the key events for the company, reflecting its broader commitment to social responsibility. As the 2024 edition of the competition concludes, Siddhalepa remains committed to expanding this initiative, reaching more children, and creating new opportunities for them to shine as they did when they started this initiative in 2012. Plans are already underway for the 2025 competition, promising even more exciting themes, enhanced prizes, and a larger platform to showcase the talents of Sri Lanka’s youth.
