Turaballys, one of Sri Lanka’s leading trade partnerships, recently launched the Slash app, their flagship app for Sri Lankans to experience more of what they love while saving money. The app is

available on the App Store and Play Store, allowing you to source buy-one-get-one offers from lifestyle experiences across the island.

At its core, Slash is a coupon service. Users sign up for one of three membership tiers, which provide them with different combinations of coupons worth almost one million rupees in savings. Users won’t have to rush to use coupons either; all coupons are valid throughout the calendar year.

App Founders Hussain and Tasneem Turabally are serial entrepreneurs, with successes such as PothKade.lk and Lanka Traders under their belt. Tasneem commented, “With the launch of Slash, our team aims to change the way Sri Lankans think of going out and experiencing the good things in life. Whenever someone feels like reconsidering a night out or a trip, Slash will be there to turn that maybe into a yes.”

The app works by sourcing coupons from lifestyle experience brands across Sri Lanka. Users visit a vendor’s location, show the coupon on their phone, and scan a QR code. The Slash app handles everything else in the background. The coupon gets activated, or ‘slashed’ as the app calls it, and users can enjoy their savings.

Slash currently has three available plans. Foodies can go for the Feast plan and its coupons from restaurants and cafés. Users interested in self-care will look to the Refresh plan, with coupons from spas, salons, and gyms (along with everything from the Feast plan). Finally, Sri Lankans with a sense of wanderlust will love the Explore plan, which sources coupons from hotels, villas, resorts, adventure destinations, gaming zones, plus everything in the Refresh plan.

The reason Slash has such universal appeal is due to the variety of vendors signed up with the program; 100+ vendors have currently joined Slash. These brands hail from different sectors (food, self-care, travel, etc.) ensuring users never run out of new experiences to enjoy.

Providing unique ‘new experiences’ is the philosophy Slash is built around. App founder Hussain Turbally explains, “Slash is the definitive lifestyle app for Sri Lankans. We built our whole model around bringing new and varied experiences to our users. It’s literally what they sign up for — the app is always being updated with new coupons, new vendors, and new experiences. All of which users can enjoy at no additional cost.”

The Slash app enjoyed a highly successful launch. In particular, the app gained momentum with young adults as well as families, being two groups that are always looking to live life to the fullest without having to break the bank.

“We have a lot of features and updates planned for Slash,” says the Turaballys. “But our vision will never change. Slash will keep helping Sri Lankans, save more, experience more and live more.”
