The Taj Samudra Colombo’s signature hospitality resumes operations strengthened with the guidelines prescribed by the local authorities, as the country reopens its various sectors. Taj Samudra too reopens doors of its all-day dining restaurant – Ports of Call, as well as the specialty restaurants Yumi, Golden Dragon and Navratna with increased frequency of sanitisation and reduced seating maintain the physical distances.
The most popular Sunday brunch with its extravagant spread, ever famous for its international cuisine from the West to East was relaunched last week. The restaurants enhance the offering with their ongoing promotion of ‘Every hour is a happy hour’ where one gets to buy 1 and get 1 free on selected beverages all day.
The key concept of this Sunday brunch is ‘pan to plate’ in line with contactless service like never before. The guests get to walk through the buffet and interact with the chefs to have the food prepared to their choice or get served on the table maintaining physical distance. The chefs at the Ports of Call have practiced the art of cooking and serving as per the prescribed “new normal” procedures. There are 14 action stations from ranging from freshly baked morning bakeries, french toast and ‘fruitlicious’ waffles to cured meat, meat cuts at carvery stations, cold meat processed in house, an exotic seafood bar with scrumptious crustaceans like lobster, crab, oyster, etc.
The buffet also includes handpicked offerings from the Golden Dragon and Yumi where the spareribs in Sichuan sauce, Dim sums, the delectable makis, nigiris, sushis and crispy tempuras make it to the menu. All the ingredients are handpicked and specially sourced for the discerning diners of Colombo. The vegetarians too can choose from a wide array including the range of salads, pickles and preserves.
On Saturday nights a special Sri Lankan dinner buffet and barbeque will also be laid at the Ports of Call from 7 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. The buffet is on the similar lines of the Sunday brunch loaded with action stations influenced with Sri Lankan delicacies dominated by the ever popular kottu, hoppers and a deep-fried section prepared at the interactive kitchen. A barbecue consisting of seafood, steaks and meats, where the guests can handpick their meats to be grilled to perfection by our chefs. Sinful desserts on a flambé trolley serving crepes or flambéed fruits, gulab jamuns with rabdi and an array of mouthwatering desserts from our pastry kitchens.
“We are extremely excited to launch the “Contactless” buffets like never before, keeping in line the new hygiene guidelines set by the Ministry of Health. Lot of care and thought has been put to this new concept for our esteemed guests who have been inquiring about these offerings. With interactive counters and stations, food will be freshly cooked and served A la minute – ensuring freshness and highest quality. So much so our dessert selection also been changed to offering flambeed crepes, fruits, fresh hot jelebes cooked in front of you and even freshly made waffles.
“We have also reduced seating capacity to ensure social distancing. However, to accommodate all our guests we now have extended our timings and accept bookings from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We have extended the seating by the pool for those discerning guests who would love to dine amidst nature,” remarked Area Director of Sri Lanka, Maldives and Malaysia and General Manager of Taj Samudra Colombo Pankaj Sampat.
