The array of wonderful products that will be on sale
A heartwarming and festive experience is assured at this year’s Santapaws Xmas Xtravaganza – a Christmas bazaar, where holiday cheer meets a cause close to our hearts – animal welfare.
The Santapaws Xmas Xtravaganza on Sunday 1 December at the Cinnamon Grand from 10 a.m. onwards, in aid of Rescue Animals Sri Lanka (RAS), with US Ambassador Julie Chung as the Chief Guest, promises a delightful selection of exciting goodies, perfect for gift-giving and personal indulgence. “There’s something for everyone,” say the organisers.
One can browse through a variety of ladies, gents and kids clothing, footwear, cosmetics, both Batik as well as regular saris, jewellery, skin care, dreamy nightwear, handmade designer handbags, accessories, homemade wines, chutneys and pickles, organic foods, Xmas décor, table and bed linen, cushions, arts and crafts, stationery and greeting cards, crochet and knitted products, scented candles, perfumes, health and gluten free foods, vegan foods, bath and body care, Xmas goodies, a range of specialty foods from the Cinnamon Grand, macramé, household items, and well – just about everything that is needed for a very merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year.
What makes this event even more meaningful is that all proceeds from the bazaar go directly to supporting RAS’animal welfare work. What’s more, an important feature of the Santapaws Xmas bazaar is that RAS has provided five complimentary stalls to human charities close to their hearts. These include, the Indira Cancer Trust, the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Helpage, Sisters at Law (a charity supporting abused women and girls), and the Rehabilitation Centre for the Communication Impaired (RCCI), allowing them to sell goods and raise funds for their respective causes.
The “Jax Dip” a Lucky Dip named after the RAS mascot, a miniature Dachshund whose spine is broken in three places, is currently at the Cinnamon Grand Lobby and you could drop in a toy, dried foods or clothing for a needy child, all of which will be distributed on 18 December to the children at the Cancer Hospital and the Jinananda orphanage in Wellawatte. In short, by patronising the Santapaws bazaar one will be helping both animals as well as humans in need.
A big thank you from RAS goes out to all the wonderful partners without whom this bazaar would not be a reality – The best address in town; the Cinnamon Grand, headed by Cinnamon Colombo Hotels Area Vice President and Cinnamon Grand Colombo General Manager Kamal Munasinghe, ably assisted by Dini Isacs, Social Media Partner Zelus, Print Media Partner Wijeya Newspapers Ltd., Videographer Proimage, Choreographer Brian Kirkoven, NIRU, Linen and I, Mega Lifesciences, OfficeMax, Fashion Bug, and many more friends and well-wishers too, numerous to mention, all of whom worked hard to make the bazaar a reality.
While shopping and enjoying the warm atmosphere, festive music, and holiday treats, it is important to remember that this is not just a bazaar—it is an opportunity to make a difference while celebrating the joy of the season. All are encouraged to bring loved ones, spread holiday cheer, and contribute to making the world a little brighter for all who inhabit our planet.
