The holiday vibes are officially here as Waters Edge welcomed the festive season with their iconic annual cake mixing ceremony, a cherished tradition that transforms the hotel into a haven of holiday spirit. Against the stunning backdrop of lush greenery, guests mingled with culinary pros and top-tier management, all set to whip up the ultimate Christmas magic.
Leading the occasion, Waters Edge Director of Operations Iyantha Abeysinghe, expressed the event’s significance, saying, “Waters Edge is all about creating memorable moments for our guests, especially during the festive season.” Abeysinghe’s guidance has been key to crafting this joyful gathering, a hallmark of Waters Edge’s commitment to heartfelt hospitality.
The guest list was impressive, with appearances from the UDA Director General, their Directors, as well as key leaders and dedicated staff from Waters Edge itself. This collaborative spirit highlights Waters Edge’s devotion to excellence in hospitality. Executive Pastry Chef Tharindu, dubbed the ‘main man’ of the day, curated an exquisite blend of dried fruits, nuts, spices, and spirits to kick-start the season’s Christmas cake creations. With skill and flair, Chef Tharindu led the cake mixing, setting a high bar for this season’s culinary delights.
The event’s lively commentary was guided by Waters Edge Manager of Marketing and Communication Thusitha Ranatunga. “Each ingredient represents something special, a touch of Waters Edge quality and tradition,” Ranatunga explained, sharing fascinating insights into the origins and importance of the cake-mixing ritual.
Adding a warm, festive touch, the venue was decked out in beautiful seasonal decor, crafted by Waters Edge’s own in-house team. The atmosphere was rich with holiday scents, as guests joined the hands-on mixing process, donning aprons and gloves to blend their personal touch into the ceremony’s ingredients. The sense of community and holiday cheer was truly palpable.
This is just the start of a series of holiday events Waters Edge has planned. “Join us for the Christmas Lighting Ceremony on 2 December, followed by enchanting Christmas carols, a Christmas eve party and dinner, Boxing Day dinner, and an extravagant New Year’s Eve Gala on the 31st. Each event promises a joyful celebration filled with festive cheer and the warm spirit of the season.’’ Ranatunga continued
