The task of selecting designers who showcase the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) main show which is hosted by Hilton Colombo, rests on the shoulders of some of Asia’s most experienced fashion designers and professionals. The designers on the HSBC CFW selection panel account for more than 25 years of experience in the fashion industry and have made an international impact on the fashion industry. The CFW designer selection panel will share its profound knowledge in fashion to guide and groom the best Sri Lankan fashion designers, who will unveil their latest collections at the CFW Spring/Summer 2015 Show which is taking place from 11 to 14 March. “The experts who make up the CFW designer selection panel are gems of Asia when it comes to fashion,” says CFW President Ajai V. Singh. “Their deep understanding of the skills and challenges that designers face makes the selection panel a very good feedback platform for Sri Lankan designers. We are lucky to have such an impressive panel of experts to guide us.” The CFW designer selection panel comprises; Bibi Russel, who is at the forefront of extraordinary creative initiatives in Bangladesh; Rizwan Beyg, veteran fashion designer from Pakistan; Prasad Bisapa, iconic fashion expert from India with over 30 years of experience in fashion; and Yoland Aluwihare, a pioneering Sri Lankan fashion designer. The panellists were selected for their important role so that they could relate to Sri Lankan designers and provide integral feedback. Each participating designer is required to submit sketches and ideas that are sent to the panel individually and anonymously. This allows each panellist to evaluate submissions whilst being unaware of the designer’s name or the scores given to the designer by others on the panel. The cumulative feedback of the panel is then given to participating designers so that they can improve and continue to work on their collections before their unveiling at CFW. CFW serves as the backbone of the Sri Lankan fashion industry and will feature leading Sri Lankan and international designers, whose collections will be the highlight of the CFW Fashion Village, which will be hosted at the Hilton Colombo Poolside. As one of four fashions weeks in Asia which are over 10 years old, CFW continues to inspire growth and innovation among local fashion designers. In its 12th edition, CFW continues to be strengthened by its partners – HSBC, Hilton Colombo, Land Rover, Wineworld, Colombo Jewellery Stores, Unilever, TATA Housing, Hameedia, Ramani Fernando Salons, Exquisite, Quintessentially Lifestyle and Leo Burnett and its PR arm Arc Worldwide.
