Hilton Colombo will bring some culture to the hotel with traditional Sri Lankan activities during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The New Year which is celebrated during the month of April goes back to an ancient period in the Sri Lankan history.
People celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with the making of milk rice and other sweet meats, boiling of milk at an auspicious time and bringing family members together in unity. The hotel’s Sri Lankan restaurant, the Curry Leaf will bring out the traditional authenticity of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year from 11 to 15 April, during dinner with ‘ammes’ making kavum, kokis and other sweetmeats.
In addition to a variety of Sri Lankan sweets, a traditional Sri Lankan curry buffet will also be on offer with fresh seafood made to order. From kottu rotis to crispy hoppers, string hoppers and yams, the list is endless.
Guests can also purchase traditional Sri Lankan sweetmeats from the hotel’s pastry shop; Fine Things from 12 to 14 April from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This will be ideal for home use or give away to friends and family.
