Celebrating ‘Mum’ at Waters Edge

The epitome of love, life and laughter is a mother. Much has been said about her for centuries yet it is not enough to describe the sacrificial and unconditional love that pours out of the heart of every woman. Being a mother is for a woman the greatest crown and celebrating the queen of our lives can never be limited to one day. But with Mother’s Day just around the corner, Waters Edge has some super activities lined up for a memorable day for mums and their families all through the month of May. 

Waters Edge in partnership with Knorr, the renowned brand that has been helping mothers in the kitchen for many years to make great tasting meals will no doubt add flavour to the occasion and make mum feel special. Also partnering with the event will be Euro Kitchen bringing in their expertise in state-of-the-art kitchen ware.

From 4 to 8 May, Waters Edge will have some delicious sweet treats at Colombo’s only drive-thru bakery. The mouth-watering array will include special Mother’s Day cakes, cup cakes and cookies. Customers can also design their own edible prints for the cakes. Special flower arrangements and cards can also be purchased to add to the value and beauty of the gift.  

If you are looking to treat mum to a plethora of delicious gourmet dishes on 8 May Waters Edge is dishing out the ‘Best Mums Sunday Brunch’ from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday 8 May at Rs. 3,750 nett per person. The brunch will feature a diverse variety of cuisines from Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese, Sri Lankan and even Indian. That’s not all; confirm your reservation and stand a chance to win a limo ride to the brunch and back! The 8-seater limo courtesy of EMCEE Travels will provide a luxurious surprise for mum and family to truly make this day even more memorable. Additionally the raffle draw will bring out some amazing prizes courtesy of Ariyana Spa, Cutting Station, Snuggle Bug, ‘be beautiful boutique’, Radio Partner E FM and Mumsibles. All mums will receive flowers courtesy of Poru and trinkets of love from some of the wonderful brands on board. A team of award winning chefs including Waters Edge’s own chef Buddhika Samarasekera, Chamaka Perera and Nalin Hewage will be at the brunch to help all mums with their questions on recipes etc. Meanwhile, six lucky mums chosen from the raffle draw will have the exclusive opportunity to partake in a special cookery session at a later date with Knorr chef Chathurika who will share her knowledge and culinary secrets.

Since Waters Edge also believes that every day is Mother’s Day the celebrations will continue with another exciting step. Kids love helping out in the kitchen and it also gives them an opportunity not to just spend quality time with mum but to also learn some valuable lessons and recipes. With these in mind Waters Edge has created a ‘Mother Daughter Cook-Off’ on the 29 May followed by a four-course exclusive dinner menu at Rs. 4,000 per person. 

Mums with daughters between the ages of 8-13 who wish to try their hand at a MasterChef style cook-off need to submit a chicken main course made using a Knorr product (Knorr Chicken Cubes, Knorr Maldive Fish Powder Mix or Knorr Chicken Powder Mix) with a picture of the dish and a picture of the mother and daughter together with the names, dates of birth, ages, address, phone and e-mail to [email protected]. The cook-off is free of charge for the candidates. Applicants will be selected based on creativity, presentation and uniqueness of the recipe by an esteemed panel of judges and the six lucky teams will be notified via e- mail/phone on 24 May.
