Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) is seeking young, creative and innovative students of architecture to design a unique retail space, which will be displayed at the upcoming Design Trunk Show.
This unique showcase provides an innovative retail opportunity for established and up-and-coming Sri Lankan designers and will take place during the CFW Spring/Summer 2015 show at the Hilton Colombo from 11 to 14 March.
Last year’s design contest saw many aspiring architects competing for an opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity at an event that draws in some of the leading figures of art and design in the region.
The winners, Jade Jayawardena and Roven Edward Rebeira, were able to work closely with CFW and its partner, TATA Housing, to apply modern design concepts to temporary spaces and create 10 pop-up retail stores at the CFW Resort Show 2014.
The program will encourage the fashion retailing aspect of the show and create opportunities for interaction between fashion designers and fashion consumers who attend CFW.
This competition is open to students of leading design schools in Sri Lanka. Selected winners will be expected to propose a design for a conceptual retail store, which will be produced by TATA Housing, one of the fastest growing real estate development companies in India that provides quality life spaces through continuous innovations.
This season, CFW will be held at a conceptualised space known as the Fashion Village, at the poolside complex of the Hilton Colombo, overlooking the enchanting Beira Lake. All designs must be compliant with this theme as well as the design criteria.
Design criteria:
One unit of conceptual design store
Must be cool and sophisticated
Must be able to be assembled on site
Must have provisions for branding and sponsorship logos
Must have space for clothing and product display
Must be in accordance with the theme of the CFW SS15 show, Fashion Village
