Chennai celebrates Christmas

The office of the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai celebrated Christmas in a grand style on last Friday at the chancery premises decorated in Christmas colours of red, green, and gold



Welcoming the guests, Deputy High Commissioner Vadivel Krishnamoorthy stated that Sri Lankans celebrate all events hand in hand with each other, such as Vesak and Christmas, irrespective of their personal religious beliefs. The Deputy High Commission has also taken the initiative to celebrate all religious festivals of every faith. He also referred to the fact that Christmas is the season for peace and joy and wished that the new found peace and joy prevailing in Sri Lanka may further strengthen.

Celebrating the true Christmas spirit, the staff of the Deputy High Commission provided meals for around 130 residents of the St. Anne’s Home for Children, Royapuram, Chennai and children from two Sri Lankan refugee camps in Tamil Nadu also attended the event.

A cultural show was presented by the children from St. Anne’s Home for Children and the children residing in Sri Lankan refugee camps.
