CIC’s Healthcare and Consumer Division recently introduced its latest range of skincare and ostomy care products, which are developed by ConvaTec USA and are now available in Sri Lanka for the first time.

Designed to meet the cleansing and protection requirements of patients suffering from mild and chronic diseases, this superior range of products provides patients with high quality, pain free and affordable cleaning solutions. srg

The new ConvaTec range includes the Aloe Vesta Protective Ointment which provides bedridden patients of all ages, with adequate protection, and ensures that any chapped or dry skin receives adequate moisture. The ointment can be used on healthy to red skin and is applied after a patient has been cleaned to aid the prevention of bed sores. Made from natural aloe vera extracts, the ointment is also an ideal moisturiser for everyday use.

The Aloe Vest Cleansing Foam and Aloe Vesta Cleansing Spray provide a total body cleansing solution that can be applied to the whole body, hair and perineum. Both products help to clean patients who are unable to bathe on a regular basis, and they also help those who are unable to safely use a tub or shower. Both products are ready to use and can merely be applied onto the patient’s body and thereafter wiped off without rinsing.

The Sensi-Care Sting Adhesive Releaser/Remover in the ConvaTec range serves an unmet clinician and patient need for a “no sting” adhesive remover. The product offers the fast and painless removal of adhesives from the skin and can be applied when removing medical adhesives, wound dressings and appliances. The remover can also be used to help change and replace colostomy bags, and are an important part of ostomy care.

It is estimated that over 2,000 people in Sri Lanka have undergone colostomies and as a result their waste is expelled directly into a colostomy bag, which requires constant cleaning and care. This new product, provides patients with a quick and painless way of removing and replacing their bags, and enables them to enjoy a better quality of life as a result.

Additionally for patients in need of ostomy care, CIC has also introduced Diamonds, a brand of gelling and odour control sachets which are designed for colostomy bags. The Diamonds sachets help patients to be less self-conscious as they are absorbent and help to reduce the odour of the bags whilst improving their overall cleanliness.

Commenting on CIC’s new range of products, Mahesh Jayathilake, Business Manager Healthcare and Consumer Division, CIC Holdings, stated: “The ConvaTec range of products which we have introduced in Sri Lanka will provide thousands of patients across the island, with better quality care. Cleansing skincare and effective ostomy care products are important because they help keep patients clean and comfortable, and also ensure the prevention of infections spreading.”
