Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts has ventured on yet another signature event by entering into a MOU with Times of India, to unveil the finalists of Femina Miss. India 2014, which will take place at Cinnamon Bey Beruwala.
Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts together with the national carrier SriLankan Airlines will host twenty finalists of Femina Miss India during a week-long visit to the island from 11th to 16th March. Sri Lanka is expected to generate much awareness in tourism in the Indian market as a result of hosting this event.
The twenty regional finalists will spend approximately one week in the island and will be engaged in many activities ranging from visits to historical sights, water sports and a ‘Gala fashion show’ at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The fashion show will take place at the end of the pre-pageant tour courtesy of Avirate, the high street fashion label who also have their store in India.
“There has been a significant growth from the Indian market in the recent past and India is undoubtedly one of the leading markets in Sri Lankan tourism. Events such as this will give us leverage to explore greater potential of the Indian markets,” said Sunimal Senanayake-Sector Head, Leisure resorts, Sri Lanka and Maldives and Executive Vice President, John Keells Group.
Femina Miss India is the pioneer of beauty pageants in India that acknowledges not only beauty but substance in Indian women for over 50 years and takes these beauties to an international platform to fulfil their dream year after year. After traversing twenty cities in the country, the final round of auditions for the FBB (Femina Big Bazaar) Femina Miss India 2014 are currently taking place in Mumbai, to give aspiring beauty queens a last chance to compete in the country’s oldest and most credible pageant, and become the 51st Miss India this year.
The Times of India Group who are the main organizers of the event are India’s largest media conglomerate and the largest publishing company in India and South-Asia. Femina is India’s first and to-date India’s largest English women’s magazine; and inspired by the success of Femina magazine, the group started Femina Miss India awards.
“For the first time ever, the pageant will go international as the finalists will be flown to be unveiled in Sri Lanka. Further, a dynamic training programme and photo-shoot will also take place at Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, the international destination partner,” said a spokesperson of the Times of India Group.
“Holding an event of this magnitude in Sri Lanka will no doubt create a much more promising future for tourism in Sri Lanka.
