The 16 ft Tallest Cupcake Tree in Sri Lanka

Premier five-star urban resort Cinnamon Lakeside unveiled ‘The Tallest Secret’ on 19 December when it revealed a 16-foot tree filled with 1,800 special seasonal cupcakes. This was also the tallest cupcake tree in Sri Lanka.

Decorated in shades of purple and white butter cream with festive toppings, the vanilla cupcakes were the creation of 24 pastry chefs headed by Cinnamon Lakeside Executive Chef Kapila Jayasinghe and Executive Pastry Chef Niranjan Karunathilake. Comprising 12 hours of hard work, the cupcake tree was this year’s December spectacle for the hotel. Last year the hotel introduced the longest yule log in Sri Lanka.

For the making of this tall secret, over 50 kgs of flour was used along with over 400 eggs, 40 kgs of butter, 15 kgs of sugar and 2 kgs of baking powder.

An idea of the General Manager Dermot Gale, this 16-foot cupcake tree is part of Cinnamon Lakeside’s curated lifestyle dining experiences for the season.
