Citibank re-emphasises women’s multiple roles at Women’s Day celebrations

Having always upheld the strong foundation of gender equality being inbuilt into its principles, ethics and values, Citi worldwide celebrates International Women’s Day on the platform of ‘Citi Women – Connecting Women, Inspiring Change, Making Progress.’ This year, on 18 March, Citi in Colombo will celebrate women by recognising the multiple roles of women at home, at work and in the community by presenting a portfolio of skills, knowledge and tools that empower women. The evening’s program, moderated by Savithri Rodrigo, is designed to share views, thoughts and ideas in an interactive discussion forum, featuring celebrated experts from diverse fields who will add value to the already multi-tasking lifestyles led by Citi female staff and customers. Discussing challenges faced by women in the corporate environment will be UK qualified and experienced Trainer and Learning Development Consultant, Dinali Bandaranayake Dandeniya, who is an extremely passionate, energetic and highly accomplished professional with fifteen years experience in design delivery and evaluation of corporate training.  With wide experience in expansive industry areas, she will discuss issues that are commonplace in workplaces, sharing experiences and solutions for some of the challenges that arise. The unique phenomenon of transforming throw away food into delicious cuisine will be unveiled by the two chefs who won the Delicious Waste Contest held at Cinnamon Grand last year.  Practical examples will be served up by award winning Nuga Gama Chef Sujith Dissanayake and Banquets Chef D.C. Dissanayake, displaying the minimising of food wastage in the kitchen dishing up simple meals that can be both delicious and cost saving as a result. This also heralds a new chapter in reducing food wastage and thereby, working on better cost management for household budgets, given the innovative dishes the chefs will turn out on the day, enticing those invited to also sample the ‘Delicious Waste’ demonstrated. Celebrated designer behind the label ‘Andre Estefan’, Stefan Andre Joachim, Partner of the trendy salon Chagall and head of The Design Cafe, will join in with a special guest appearance by the Chagall Team, will join in with a unique fresh approach to looking ‘Feeling & Looking Fabulous’. Delving into his magic box of tricks, this strong believer in “Beauty from the inside is what shows on the outside,” will showcase tips and tricks designed to embrace lifestyles, carefully doing away with fashion and lifestyle myths on how we ‘Must’ look! He will add suggestions for a corporate wardrobe in the Sri Lankan context given the diverse events women have to attend. Exciting moments will be added on, with a surprise by Chagall. Given the stress and pressure that women do have to contend with in the fast paced corporate context, Stress Relievers Anytime Anywhere is what accredited Master Trainer from the Australian Institute of Fitness Eli Usma will introduce. Her fifteen year experience spans from Zumba to Pilates to CrossFit compounded by over twenty internationals certifications. A fitness trainer for the national rugby and netball teams, Eli is a lawyer with an MBA and being a mother of two and the Co-founder of Entertrainers Group and Personal Fitness Solutions, she knows firsthand the juggling that is required of females both in the workplace and the home leaving little time for relaxation and will divulge some practical stress relievers to help women cope in their high pressure roles.
