‘Project X,’ a charity fundraiser organised by Colombo Paradise Round Table 5 (CPTF5), will take place on 28 November at Casa Colombo. Proceeds from the party will be in aid of The Ceylon School for The Deaf and Blind, Ratmalana.
The party will feature Colombo’s hottest DJs such as the legendary DJ Tim Claessen, DJ Demo (Resident DJ Clique), DJ Danushka (Resident DJ at Ameuseum) and DJ Roshan (owner of Ameuseum Events) as well as other special guest DJs.
The annual fundraiser follows a fully sold-out party held last year at The Blue Elephant, Hilton Colombo. The previous charity event raised funds for The Refuge Home for Girls, where a Vocational Activities Centre was built, giving the elder girls a separate area to make their seasonal cards and batik clothing, sales of which contribute to the Home’s daily expenses.
This year CPRT5 have challenged themselves to make a positive difference to help The Ceylon School for The Deaf and Blind in Ratmalana. The organisation runs three residential schools, two at Ratmalana, about 15km south of Colombo, and the third at Kaithady, Jaffna, in the northern tip of the Island. Each school has approximately 200 students.
The two schools at Ratmalana are the School for the Blind and the School for the Deaf. The Jaffna School, known as the Nuffield School caters to both types of impairments. They look after about 600 impaired children, providing them an education, vocational training, food and lodging, healthcare, and recreational facilities.
‘Project X’ is poised to be a memorable party to kick off the season, and will be held on 28 November at one of Colombo’s most awarded boutique hotels, Casa Colombo, from 9 p.m. onwards.
Special VIP table packages may be purchased by contacting the organisers directly whilst individual tickets may be purchased from www.ticketslk.com, the Official Online Ticket Partner. Colombo’s hottest and most popular radio station E FM has signed up with CPRT5 as its official Radio Partner for the event.
More information, updates and special offers are available on the ‘Project X by RT 5’ Facebook event page or by contacting 0777 371 119 or 0777 244 888.
The first Round Table was formed in Norwich, England in 1927. The founder, Louis Marchesi, was a young member of Norwich Rotary Club who felt a need existed for a club where the young businessmen of the town could gather on a regular basis.
At their meetings they could exchange ideas, learn from the experiences of their colleagues and play a collective part in the civic life of Norwich. From a very early stage it was agreed that Round Table would be a non-religious, non-political club and this has continued to this day.
Round Table proved it had international appeal with the first overseas Table formed in Copenhagen in 1936 after which the pattern of growth was rapidly re-established with Tables being ‘chartered’ worldwide.
