‘Concept 2014’ by Fouzul Hameed to debut this month

By Fathima Riznaz Hafi The FH Studio will be launching ‘Concept 2014’, a fashion show of international class, conceptualised by renowned men’s fashion consultant Fouzul Hameed. All geared up to be showcased a season ahead, the exclusive range of menswear anticipates the transformation of the man of yesterday into the man of tomorrow. Concept 2014 will showcase 10 collections ranging from casual, sport, smart casual, fusion, office, ethnic, red carpet, formal to semi-formal categories. Tailored using some of the best fabric in the world, the collection encompasses over 60 years of tradition and expertise. Also to be featured at the launch, are trademark Hameedia originals such as ‘bespoke’ collections. As yet another initiative to raise funds for the ‘My Friend’ project, one of the highlights of the show will be an auction with the aim of contributing all proceeds to the education of at least 1,000 disadvantaged children from all communities island-wide. To date, ‘My Friend’, under the patronage of Fouzul Hameed, has helped many children fulfil their dreams to obtain a sound education for the betterment of their future. Commenting on the upcoming launch, set to be held on Sunday, 20 October 2013, Hameedia Group Managing Director Fouzul Hameed stated: “From humble beginnings, it’s a great leap forward for us as we engage in having our very own fashion show – Concept 2014, which will change the Sri Lankan landscape in menswear. The way someone is dressed defines their personality and this show is all about showcasing the extensive range of clothing that we create for men. It’s all about showing men that their clothes need not be rudimentary and discreet, and that they have choices whatever the occasion may be.” “As expected, the collection encompasses over 60 years of tradition, know-how and expertise, which would truly raise the bar of the local menswear industry. Furthermore, as social service is a core value of our organisation, the show will feature many fundraisers such as auctions, that will channel its proceeds towards the ‘My Friend’ program which embraces and helps educate underprivileged and marginalised children across the country.” Supporting Hameed during the announcement of the upcoming launch were HSBC Colombo Fashion Week President Ajai V. Singh and HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Director and Choreographer Prasad Bidapa. “We always thought that Fouzul had a great product, a great concept, he just needed to get to a different level because he’s a man with a good heart and good thinking. We realised that Fouzul Hameed needs to stand out as a creative designer and also put forward collections which are new season collections as with Concept 2014 which has never been done before in Sri Lanka,” said Singh. Bidapa added: “When I come into this store I see something that is truly international and it’s just got everything that men could need. Men are very lazy shoppers; they hate shopping – the way that women love shopping – men hate to shop and we don’t like to go from shop to shop to shop to buy a few things.
