Dental Care Services unit gets fully-equipped dental chair

Unilever’s trusted oral care expert, Signal, in keeping with its objective of strengthening oral hygiene in Sri Lanka, donated a comprehensive treatment dental chair to the Institute of Oral Health, Maharagama (IOH),under the direction of the Ministry of Health recently.

Accepting this much needed donation, Dr. Jayasundera Bandara, Deputy Director General – Dental Service at the Ministry of Health said, “The Ministry of Health has a comprehensive oral care service across the island with the objective of preventing oral health problems and diseases.

Though the Government of Sri Lanka spends substantially on oral hygiene, the Government welcomes the contribution of the private sector to ease this burden. Unilever regularly helps the oral healthcare programmers of the MOH and SLDA. The chair that has been donated by Unilever will be of utmost importance in treating dental patients at the Institute of Oral Health Maharagama.”

More than 250 patients per day are treated at the Maharagama Institute of Oral Health. The dental chair can be used for treating patients at the Restorative Dentistry Unit. The chair is from ‘Durr Dental,’ a reputed supplier of healthcare equipment in Germany and is worth more than Rs. 2.5 million. This chair will replace the 10-year-old chair that is being used by the Institute of Oral Health at present.
