DI launches ‘Healthy’ range

“Our Company has always introduced innovative products to the market to meet customer demand,” said Sitendra Senaratne, MD/CEO of Ceylon Leather Products PLC at the launch of the DI ‘Healthy’ range of shoes and sandals. He added that in the 1970s DI introduced the ‘Veldtsechoen’ product to the market. This product, specially meant for school children, enables growing feet to avoid any deformities. Since its introduction, there is ever so growing demand for this product. Continuing, he explained that during the 1980s terrorist activities and till end of that era in collaboration with the Army Engineering Unit, DI supplied the forces, certain strategic wear as well as shoes to protect the soldier’s feet from landmines. Last year DI introduced DI ‘Safety’, the only shoe locally produced in keeping with accepted international standards. The DI ‘Chef’ shoe was another product that was brought into the market, now in demand by the hospitality trade. The latest product range DI ‘Healthy’, more suitable for senior citizens and diabetic patients, is made out of specially selected soft natural leather with other high quality material. He further detailed the production capabilities of DI, consisting of highly skilled and technically proficient staff and hopes to introduce to the market a range of innovative specialised product ranges in the future. From its inception in 1939, DI was a company not only making leather shoes, but providing customised leather footwear solutions for specific needs. Over the past seven decades, DI has developed through research and produced most innovative products. The first anti-mine shoe which was designed and developed by DI with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Army, saved many from fatal injuries during the 30 years of the acrimonious conflict in the country. Continuing the passion to innovate, DI introduced the Industrial DI safety, the first ever safety shoe produced in Sri Lanka complying with international standards. Adding to its family, DI now produces another innovative product DI ‘Healthy Shoe’, a shoe specially designed to protect the feet of the senior citizens. DI Healthy which was launched last week, is a unique product specially designed for Sri Lankan market. It’s stylish and fashionable, yet affordable with genuine leather upper and micro pores to breath out the moisture and heat keep the feet cool and dry.
